Hotel Property Critique Hotels are public places where people of all kinds meet up for different purposes. The design of the hotel property can serve as a means of attracting people or scaring them away. Everyone who wishes to visit a hotel must research on the property, its location as well as many other significances that may influence their will to stay in the hotel and for how long. The idea if for all hotel properties to provide the best for its customers include fire detection and suppression techniques, the security of the hotel, hotel responsibility and compliance as well as the exterior of the property. All these can give an overall critique of the hotel property for people before they decide to stay. Fire detection and suppression systems are among the most important safety measures that any hotel must be equipped with. Having a detection system that actually works and the alert is attended to fast, be one of the important things that all hotels must put in place. Hotels which are large and accommodate a large number of people must have a well set up fire detection system or else, lives of many could be at risk. There are main ways of detecting and suppressing a fire in a hotel is having the correct signs, exits and a good location where fire could not catch the property easily. An efficient fire system must be set up with regard to saving time in case of a fire as well as put measures that would not lead to severe damage that could harshly affect a hotel’s budget. Fire detection signs must be set up in all hotel hall ways as well as in each room. Alarms have for a long time served as a tool to help the management team detect a fire and alert every person in the hotel to depart. Upgrades of the alarms are important since they fail once they are pressed for a long time. Setting up an alarm circuit that could link to the whole building is very important in fire emergencies. Any guest at a hotel feels safe once they see fire alarms set up. Also, fire exit signs are a must have for any hotel. The manner in which people leave a building is very crucial. The exit doors and exit access doors must be large enough to allow a significant amount of people to dash through in the shortest time possible. Some hotels have gone an extra mile and set up firewalls that are about two hour long. These serve as safety locations for people who might not leave the hotel building in time in case a fire has already began. The safe location must be spacious enough with ventilation to allow good air circulation for people who might have inhaled too much smoke while trying to reach the safety rooms. All these are favorable fire suppression systems that must be in place. The obvious measures like fire extinguishers and fire sprinklers are also important to prevent spread of fire. In addition, hotels must be located in areas that are not prone to catch fire easily. The hotel building should stand by itself and avoid close proximity with other buildings. Also, hotels must not be near busy industrial areas which use electricity and energy to function as a fire could start and spread to the hotel property. The purpose of security for most buildings is to ensure a smooth work flow without any interruptions and also to ensure the visitors are served in a conducive environment. Safety is key mostly for hotels. Giving the visitors an opportunity to stay in the hotel comes with them feeling comfortable in and within the hotel premises. In retaining a hotel’s commercial success as well as its image, security detail must be in check. The key elements that govern a hotel’s security include security guards, CCTV cameras as well as alarms in case of serious emergencies in that people can leave the building upon threat. Security guards play a huge role in ensuring that the customers feel safe from the moment they arrive in the hotel premises. A serious security check at the entrance is mandatory to prevent any terrorist related alerts within the hotel property. The guards ensure the people who enter the hotel are identified using their nation identities while cars are checked thoroughly. Also, the parking lot must have a number of guards who ensure no vehicle is stolen from and people at the parking lot are safe. CCTV cameras must be in place in a car parking lot. Another technique to ensure hotel building is safe is the patrolling on hotel premises. Security guards must be in place not only at the entrance but within the hotel grounds and walls to help look out for any crime alert. Some hotels are currently using a visitor logging system using the modern technology where once a visitor leaves they must sign in upon return. This ensures no person enters a hotel room without permission. A 24/7 CCTV camera check must be in place in all corners of the building. All rooms and hall ways as well as exterior of the hotel premises must be accessed in the CCTV room. Proper security detail must keep them CCTV control room safe. Signs that show entry of authorized persons must also be set up in the hotel premises. This is a clear and most effective way to ensure the hotel building is secure. The security guards in a hotel serve as a means to keep things in order in an authoritative manner as well as welcome the visitors in a manner which their safety is a priority. Good security means good hospitality from a hotel. It is the legal responsibility of hotels as well as accommodation service providers to comply with ADA. American with Disabilities must be taken care of just like the rest of the normally functioning citizens. This means that ADA responsibility must be complied with by hotel owners in a bid to take care of the disabled. There architecture department must see to it that they set up hotels which realize that disabled people are normal people who must be given priority. Most hotels have various systems that serve as a gesture to show their ADA responsibility and compliance. The most common is the ADA compliance sign that indicates that the hotel is aware and responsible for all the guests. Most hotels have the ADA compliance kit which is put in all the rooms in a hotel. The expense does not matter since the law states clear that the disabled must not be discriminated and must be taken care of like normal people. The ADA compliance kit consists of various items which help the disabled to function at peace in a hotel room or within the premises. The kit contains a hard carrying case, visual or audio smoke detector, telephone signaler, telephone handset modifier, and door beacon with LED light as well as a text telephone. All these are devices that are put in place in hotels. Some hotels are constructed with lifts that are for the disabled, signs are put to indicate that. Basically, any hotel property must adhere to ADA compliance law. A hotel’s exterior serves to create an attractive element for its guests. A hotel located in a beautiful scenery gives guests a welcoming approach that they need away from their homes. The idea is to please the customers. Hotels must possess the best architectural designs as well as backgrounds. A common way of attracting visitors is to invest in the hotel’s exterior look. Magnificent colors on the walls as a sense of nature with gardens, green grass and flowers serves to beautify the exterior. Well tarmacked and clean environment all pose as good exteriors for any hotel property. Generally, a hotel property critique will help guests in choosing which hotel to visit or whether to hold events in. Every person can be a hotel critique and the aim is to find the best looking with the best services so as to afford a place where one is guaranteed of better service than what they are used to. For hotel owners, proper asset management is important to help in giving the customers the best there is to offer. Hotel properties are critiqued on basis of their beauty, service, safety and most of all the customer relation system. Therefore, for the purpose of success in hospitality all necessary systems must be set up in a hotel property. Work Cited Bradley, Timothy L.
