Of Mice and Men: Character Analysis on Curley’s Other half

Have you ever felt so neglected or undesirable that you approach anyone readily available whether they care about you or not? When a person requires somebody to talk to but there is nobody there, what does one do? In John Steinbeck’s, Of Mice and Guy, Curley’s partner is extremely lonely and feels incredibly useless. She feels that the only method she can get attention is by walking around and flirting with people. Although everybody see’s Curley’s spouse as a “whore” who simply wants to seduce men, her true desire is to have someone she can go to who makes her feel enjoyed.

Curley’s better half puts her self out there as a desperate flirt, but while she’s flirting with people she’s just trying to find somebody she can talk to. When Curley’s other half is speaking with Lennie she informs him how she doesn’t get to reveal her sensations while residing on the farm. She realizes that Lennie has psychological impairments for that reason chooses to speak with him since she understands he will stay. Curley’s partner is just trying to find somebody who will focus on her whether it is someone she really wants to speak to or not.

The reality that she goes around looking for anyone makes her appearance desperate yet no one understands that she remains in desperate requirement of sensation wanted. In Steinbeck’s Curley’s better half is never called by her name. This signifies how she is treated, as if she is useless and unintelligent. This also shows that males dealt with ladies even worse than their animals. Guy acted towards women as if they owned them. This appears when we take a look at Curley’s better half since it reveals why she feels irrelevant.

Rather of calling Curley’s wife by her name they state “Curley’s woman”, “a tart”, “the brand-new kid”, and so on. If guys talked to her more and started calling her by her name Curley’s better half wouldn’t flirt as much and would feel way better than she did. In conclusion, although individuals don’t see that Curley’s spouse has more to her than being a flirt, she only desires attention, and grabs it when she has the possibility.
