In this regard, the outcomes expected might consist of the graduation rates, the GPA, or the decrease in remediation rates (Rowell & Hong, 2013). This implies that a person should apply programs and tools that shall show the changes attained after the completion of the curriculum. The programs and interventions need to be assessed on frameworks that connect to the short-term and distal outcomes.

Advocacy, Ethics, and Mandates

The ethical and legal issues impacting the counseling process require that a counselor’s actions protect the welfare of the students and teachers. This implies that the services offered should be confidential in order to protect the image of the students and other third parties (Rowell & Hong, 2013). Failure to observe the ethical considerations can attract sanctions from the professional body or lead to jail terms. It is important for a counselor to create a favorable environment in which the student can feel free to share his or her issues. The common ethical and legal issues comprise of conflict of interests in which the counselor wants to have an extended relationship with the students. It is unprofessional for a counselor to engage in romantic affairs with students since this affects the outcomes of the counseling session (Rowell & Hong, 2013). Another ethical and legal issue is bribery, which emanates when the students offer a bribe for a job at the expense of the service fees. It erodes the performance of the counselors who offer services to receive bribes instead of helping their students.

Personal Reflection

My expectation for future growth in professional school counseling is to positively change the society and lives of others through constructive sessions. This implies that I will strive to ensure that students receive professional guidance that encourages them to change their lives and those around them. I also expect to inspire other young children to take up the course as their career options to improve the guidance programs. I hope that taking the different areas of Professional School Counseling shall enable me to be a better person who serves the community with diligence and respect. It is essential to take part in community activities in order to encourage co-existence and social appreciation of other people’s backgrounds. As a student, I believe the course shall be instrumental in educating society on the significance of seeking professional guidance concerning personal or communal matters. Lastly, my expectation for future growth in the different areas in Professional School Counseling would be to achieve my career goals by passing examinations. The application of different tools and programs in career work is essential for the creativity of new skills and ideas.
